1,225,053. 6-Chloro-2,3,4,5-tetrahydro-1 H-3- benzazepine. J. R. GEIGY A.G. 14 Aug., 1968 [9 Feb., 1968], No. 38772/68. Heading C2C. The novel compound, 6-chloro-2,3,4,5-tetrahydro-1H-3-benzazepine, of the Formula I and its acid addition salts, are prepared by reacting chlorine with 2,3,4,5-tetrahydro-1H-3-benzazepine, separating the 6-chloro-2,3,4,5-tetrahydro-1H-3-benzazepine from the reaction mixture directly or after conversion into an acid addition salt and, if desired, converting the base or the initially obtained acid addition salt into another acid addition salt. Pharmaceutical compositions having anorexigenic activity for oral, parenteral or rectal administration, comprise the compound I or a pharmaceutically acceptable acid addition salt thereof, together with a carrier.
