Headings F1C, F1G, F1L and F1T. The subject matter of this Specification is similar to that of Specification 1, 223, 998 which is concerned with a gas turbine engine having a variable-area duct portion containing rotor and stator blades, but the present claims are concerned with a gas turbine engine having a compressor driven by a turbine rotor which contains at least one combustion chamber receiving air from the compressor and discharging combustion gases through propulsion nozzles in the turbine rotor, and means for varying the volume of the combustion chamber or chambers.
