Abstract
1,221,727. Mixing powders. ORGANON N.V. 5 July, 1968 [7 July, 1967], No. 32309/68. Heading B1C. A mixer for powders comprises an hourglass shaped container with a screen 6 at the waist and a rotatable shaft 3 carrying stirrers 4 and rubbing devices 5 which may be flexible scrapers or brushes. The stirrers may be blades, wires or knives and may be shaped to whirlup or press down the material; the covers 1 of the container may have sight glasses 9. The whole is supported in a frame 7 mounted on trunnions 8 whereby it may be inverted for repeated passage of material through the screen. In another embodiment for continuous discharge (see Fig. 2, not shown) there are several such containers in series also separated by screens (10) with rubbing devices (11), the means for inversion being omitted. Either embodiment may be operated in an inclined position to vary residence time. The shaft speed may also be variable.
