Abstract

1,221,234. Mounting vehicle generators. AUTOMOTIVE PRODUCTS CO. Ltd. 29 July, 1969 [16 Aug., 1968], No. 39362/68. Heading H2A. The rotor of a generator for a motor vehicle is attached to the driving member of a fluid coupling for transmitting drive from the engine of the vehicle to the road wheels. As shown, the generator is an alternator having a permanent magnet rotor 38 attached by studs 39 to a rotating casing 14 carrying the driving member 18 of a torque converter, casing 14 being in turn bolted to a sleeve 11 attached to the engine crank-shaft 10. The stator 41 is fixed to a cover 34 forming part of a housing 32 for the torque converter. Alternatively, the coupling may comprise a fluid flywheel.
