Abstract

1,220,820. Container-tipping attachments for tractors. FARM IMPLEMENTS Ltd. 29 Nov., 1968 [29 Nov., 1967], No. 54261/67. Headings B8E and B8H. Container-engaging jaws 15 are rotatably mounted on gripper arms 10, which are pivotable about vertical axes 9 on a frame 1 on tractor loader arms 3 and are rotated to tip the container by means of an hydraulic ram 27 and chain 30 against the action of a return spring 32. The ram cylinder is secured to a bracket 28 on the arm 10 and a semi-circular guide 29 is secured to the piston-rod. The chain 30 is anchored at one end to the bracket 28, passes around the guide 29 and a sprocket 26 secured to the rotatable stub shaft 16 of the jaw 15, and is connected at its other end to the spring 32 anchored to a bracket 33. On extending the ram, the container is rotated from an upright position to the position shown, against the action of the spring 32. Each arm 10 may be provided with a tipping mechanism or, alternatively, only one arm may be so equipped, the jaw on the other arm being provided with a spring urging the jaw towards the untipped position.
