Abstract

1,220,742. Valves. NOKDISKA ARMATURFABRIKERNA A.B. 13 May, 1968 [12 May, 1967], No. 22645/68. Addition to 1,163,125. Heading F2V. The sealing ring of a butterfly valve having a housing 1, seat 2 and closure member 3, is disposed within a peripheral groove formed in the closure member and has embedded therein a metal wire 7, the shape of the radially innermost portion of the groove and the presence of the wire serving to securely retain the ring in the groove, whilst the shape of the radially outermost portions of both the groove and the ring being such as to permit the ring to expand laterally upon being compressed radially.
