1,220,689. Offshore platform. NEDERLANDSE MAATSCHAPPIJ VOOR WERKEN BUITENGAATS (NETHERLANDS OFFSHORE CO.) N.V. and HOLLANDSCHE BETON MAATSCHAPPIJ N.V. 20 Dec., 1968 [29 Dec., 1967], No. 59137/67. Heading E1H. In a method of constructing an offshore platform a prefabricated lower supporting structure 17 is first brought to the site, lowered there and permanently anchored to the sea bottom. A prefabricated upper structure is then floated above the top of the lower structure, lowered upon it and secured to it. The height of the lower supporting structure is less than the depth of water at the site. In the embodiment shown the upper structure comprises a platform 6 and legs 7 which are movable with respect to the platform and during transportation the upper structure is supported upon removable floats 11.
