Abstract

1,220,630. Arc-erosion. RAYTHEON CO. 8 Aug., 1968 [23 Aug., 1967], No. 37977/68. Heading B3V. [Also in Division H1] A pair of identical, parallel, grid electrodes for the electron gun of a discharge tube (see Division H1) are manufactured by arc erosion, using a carbon composition tool 122 axially movable towards a pair of pre-formed molybdenum grid blanks 104 and 106 which are spaced apart by a ceramic spacer 117. Oil is provided between the tool and the blanks, radially extending apertures being eroded successively in blanks 104 and 106 as the tool is moved downwards.
