Abstract
1,220,548. Coated surfaces. WESTING- HOUSE ELECTRIC CORP. 22 Aug., 1969 [26 Sept., 1968], No. 42017/69. Heading B2E. [Also in Division H1] An insulating surface within an electron discharge device is coated with a high resistive material incorporating silicon carbide. The coating may be a mixture of silicon carbide and silicon dioxide which is formed by applying, e.g. by painting, a suspension of 80 mg silicon carbide in 60 ml ethyl silicate, 15 ml of 2% hydrochloric acid and 90 ml dioxane and heating at 400‹C for 1 hour in air during the normal exhausting procedure of the tube. The coating may be 0.002 inch thick.
