Abstract

1,220,174. Air filter. TECALEMIT (ENG.) Ltd. 2 Feb., 1968 [22 Feb., 1967], No. 5484/ 68. Heading B1T. An air filter for an I.C. engine intake comprises an annular filter element in a casing 1 with an axial outlet and radial inlet 2, a plate 8 covering inlet 2 to direct the incoming air tangentially around the filter element in two opposite directions, which ensures a more uniform flow through different parts of the element. Plate 8 is secured to casing 1 except along opening 9 where the main air stream enters. The opposed secondary air stream passes through a row of holes 10, and further holes 11 direct some air axially of the element. The element comprises knitted natural and/or synthetic fibres or shredded paper, impregnated with oil.
