Abstract

1,219,794. Forging presses. HYDRAULIK G.m.b.H. 22 Feb., 1968 [24 Nov., 1967], No. 8699/68. Heading B3H. An hydraulic drop forging press has upper and lower laminated cross-heads 3, 4 interleaved at their ends with tie bars 1, each formed of parallel plates enclosed in a casing 5. The tie bars are connected to the cross-heads 3, 4 by welding or preferably by bolts 2. Guideways 17 are provided on the casings 5 for the press ram 9 which is actuated by one or by three hydraulic plungers 13 working in cylinders 14 fitted with stuffing-box packing 19. The casings 5 may be each in two parts welded together. Wedge assemblies 6 are used to pre-tension the tie bars 1. Cross-heads 3, 4 are laminated from rolled or cast steel plates.
