[Also in Division G4] A protective circuit for an arrangement including a transducer (not shown) producing at least three periodically varying signals mutually displaced substantially equally in phase and of a phase rotation dependent on the direction of variation of a physical variable, comprises two coincidence circuits 21, 22, one receiving signals A . . . C representative of the transducer signals and the other receiving signals #A... #C representative of the transducer signals when inverted, a bi-stable element 24 connected to the circuits 21, 22 and an alarm connected to the element 24. In the event of a fault causing unequal displacement of the signals, the resulting coincidence of the signals causes circuit 21 or 22 to produce an output to trigger the element 24 to operate the alarm.
