Abstract
1,219,693. Skinning fish fillets. NORDISCHER MASCHINENBAU RUD BAADER. 12 Dec., 1968, No. 59243/68. Heading A2U. Fish fillets are skinned by an oscillating knife 6 arranged on the outlet side of a pair of rollers 4, 5 between which the fillet is fed, the cutting edge 8 of the knife being disposed adjacent the narrowest part of the gap between the rollers and at a fixed distance from the circumference of the roller 4. By this arrangement, the leading end of each fillet is held by the roller 5, which is resiliently mounted, closely against the roller 4 at the commencement of skinning, resulting in complete skinning of each fillet without waste, the skin passing below the knife while the skinned fillet passes between the roller 5 and the knife. Preferably the knife 6 is pivoted about an axis parallel to that of the roller 4 by a knife support 7 which is oscillated in the direction of this axis, the cutting edge 8, which has a chamfer 9, being supported at approximately 0.4 mm. from the circumference of roller 4 by a pressure pad 10, a pressure surface 11 of which is arranged to form a gap of about 0.2 mm. between it and the roller 4 through which the skin passes.
