Abstract

1,219,229. Ships' derricks. WARNOWWERFT WARNEMUNDE VEB. 20 Aug., 1969, No. 41561/69. Heading B8B. A ship loading apparatus, Fig. 1, has a derrick 2 pivotable through the plane of two lateral uprights 1 (only one shown) carrying pulley-blocks 19 for the load and sling falls 17, 19. The derrick 2 at its upper end has two lateral arms 3 and a third arm 4 lying perpendicularly thereto in the pivoting direction. Each arm 3 mounts a swivel bolt 5 carrying at its lower end a derrick-side sling block 6 mounting a guide block 7 for the load fall 17 for pivoting about the axis of a spindle 8, which, when the derrick 2 is vertical, lies parallel to the axis of the associated swivel bolt 5 and is offset towards the derrick 2. An upper load block 9 with three cable pulleys 10, 11, 10 is mounted on the third arm 4. The middle pulley 11 has a larger diameter than the derrick 2. The load fall 17 passes from an upright 1 over guide pulley 7 and down to a load block 13 on a cross-member 14 carrying a load hook, up to one of the pulleys 10 and then to the other pulley 10, down to a second block 13 and up to the second guide pulley 7. The load fall 17 can be drawn down between the outer pulleys 10 and the inner pulley 11 in two loops and inserted into upwardly hingeable pulley blocks 16 arranged on the member 14. In the modification illustrated in Fig. 2, in which the derrick 2 is shown in the position opposite to that in Fig. 1, additional load blocks 20 are provided at the derrick head beneath the lateral arms 3, the load blocks 13 being double in this case.
