Abstract
1,219,066. Electromechanical filters. STANDARD TELEPHONES & CABLES Ltd. 25 Sept., 1969, No. 47177/69. Heading H3U. Unwanted vibrational modes of a filter are attenuated by supporting the resonator element by means of a mounting arrangement having a low quality factor, this arrangement supporting the resonator element at a position corresponding to a mode of the desired vibrational mode. As shown in Figs. 1, 2, a resonator 1 vibrating in the flexural mode is supported on a base 2 by members 3 situated at the nodes, these members extending through bushes 4 of low quality factor material, e.g. rubber. In a modification, Fig. 3, the rubber bushes 5 are provided in the base 2. There may be a number of resonators arranged side-by-side (Fig. 4, not shown). In a further modification of Figs. 1, 2, the axes of the members 3 are arranged perpendicularly to the major faces of the resonator (Fig. 5, not shown).
