Abstract

1,219,034. Coloured anodized surfaces. GENERAL ELECTRIC CO. May 28, 1969 [June 21, 1968], No.26951/69. Heading C7B. An anodized metallic surface is coloured yellowto-brown e.g. shades of gold or bronze, by applying a fluid comprising a pyrolizable organic compound, such as creosote (with or without methyl ethyl ketone), machine oil, corn sugar syrup or saturated sucrose solution, to the anodized surface, and heating to pyrolize at 300-450‹ C. The surface may be of Al alloy containing 1% Si + Fe, 0À2% Cu, 0.05% Mn and 0À1% Zn anodized in 25% H 2 SO 4 solution at C.D. of 40 A.S.F.
