Abstract

1,218,601. Treating pickle liquors. UNIFLOC Ltd. and J. O. SAMUEL. 1 Jan., 1968, No. 87/68. Headings C1A and C1C. Liquor containing hydrochloric acid and FeCl 2 is treated by a process comprising adding finely divided carbonate of lime in an amount sufficient at least to neutralize all the uncombined acid and to precipitate substantially all the dissolved iron, and aerating the liquor during neutralization and precipitation to form a precipitate of an insoluble hydrated ferric oxide. Modifications of the neutralization process are described.
