Abstract

1,218,176. Urea. FISONS FERTILIZERS Ltd. 1 May, 1968 [22 Feb., 1967], No. 8416/67. Heading C1B. [Also in Division C2] Urea granules or the like are formed continuously from a urea melt containing potassium chloride and/or nitrate, the mixture (which may be a solution or suspension) being at a temperature of less than 130‹ C. 3-50% of potassium salt may be employed. The melt may be prilled, extruded or flaked and the product blended or granulated with other fertilizer material. Alternatively, the melt may be granulated by spraying on to other fertilizer material or recycle material at elevated temperature in a rotating drum or paddle mixer. Other fertilizer material may be ammonium nitrate, phosphate or sulphate; single or triple superphosphate; or potassium chloride, sulphate, phosphate, nitrate or metaphosphate.
