Abstract

1,217,018. Endless chain elevators. SOVEX Ltd. 3 Oct., 1969 [14 Oct., 1968], No. 48575/68. Heading B8A. In an elevator of the kind in which a carrier 19 is provided with selection means 26, 27, 28 which can be set, on loading, to cause automatic discharge of the load at a selected destination in the path of the conveyer, the selection means 26, 27, 28 comprises a plurality of selectively actuable members 27 preferably push-buttons, provided on the carrier 19 or a container to be carried thereby, and, at each of a plurality of destinations, discharge-effecting mechanism 10, adapted and arranged to be directly and mechanically operated by a respective actuated member 27. As shown, each load carrier comprises a tray 19 supported by arms 12 which are pivotally mounted at 13 between arms 5, 5 1 of a frame. The latter is connected at diagonally opposite points (in plan view, Fig. 2) to conveyer chains 1, 1. A rod 14 connecting the other ends of the arms 12 is retained in the jaws of a latch 23 in the normal loaded travelling position of the tray 19. A series of actuator rods 26 on the carrier frame have respective push-buttons 27 and pushers 28. Each discharge station has a first discharge member in the form of a lever 43 on a rod 44. The latter extends laterally parallel with the row of pushers 28, but the position of the lever along it is special to the particular station. In this way, a particular push-button 27 corresponding to a given station, when pressed, projects its pusher 28, so that it lies in the path of a lever 43 at the given station only. When this occurs the lever 43 upwardly deflected and an extension 46 with which it is rigid is moved anticlockwise. The extension 46 has a recess which is in engagement with a pin 47 on a second discharge member 48. This is thereby moved clockwise from dot-dash to full line position, Fig. 5) so as to engage and release the latch 23 from the rod 14. After discharge of the tray 19 via a shoot 22, a fixed guide 17 cams the rod 14 back into engagement with the rod 14. Each pusher 28 is retained in its set position by a spring-loaded catch plate 31 common to all the pushers, which engages a stop surface 30 (Fig. 5). The plate 31 is deflected to release the pusher 28 by the action of the member 14 in its downward movement. Energization of a solenoid 51 enables an operator to cancel the discharge of a tray if desired. This is effected by the solenoid causing an axial movement of the discharge member 48.
