Abstract

1,216,741. Laminates. XEROX CORP. 11 Jan., 1968 [13 Jan., 1967], No. 1619/68. Heading B5N. [Also in Divisions B6 and G2] Images are obtained utilizing the manifold sets described in Specification 1,150,381 in which the imaging layer has a stronger initial adhesion for the donor sheet than the receiving sheet by (I) maintaining an electric field across the imaging layer either by means of a pair of electrodes or by charging as described in Specification 1,214,731; (II) (a) imagewise exposing by placing the imaging layer in an imagewise field of opposite polarity, and (b) then reversing, reducing or grounding the electric field, and (III) separating the receiving sheet and donor sheet so that a positive image is formed on the receiving sheet. Where an imagewise exposure to an electric field is utilized the pigment in the imaging layer may be carbon black, iron oxide, lead chromate, titanium dioxide and printing ink pigments. Step (II) (a) may be omitted if whole layer transfer is desired.
