Abstract

1,216,178. Feeding webs. NATIONAL CASH REGISTER CO. 21 April, 1969 [3 May, 1968], No. 20121/69. Heading B6F. A pin feed tractor includes a flexible belt 32 with driving teeth 33 on its inner face, alternate ones of which engage links each including a feed pin 39. Each link comprises two side portions 36 (35, Figs. 3, 5) which engage the edges of the belt 32 and which are joined by a connecting portion 37 having a convex semicircular face 42 and a groove 43 shaped for receiving the respective tooth 33. The side portions each include a pin 48 which pins engage apertures 50 in a plate 49 which is fastened over the outer face of the belt 33 to secure the link in place. The pins 48 may be flattened to hold the plate 49 in place. The belt is driven by sprocket-wheels (20, 22, Fig. 2) having peripheral recesses of shapes conforming alternately to the teeth 33 and the convex faces 42. The tractor also comprises a frame including a fixed rail (60, Figs. 1, 6) which is engaged by depending portions of the side portions 36, (35), and further including a bracket (62) holding the side portions, and hence the pins 39, down while they are in engagement with feed holes in paper to be fed. A paper guide (68, Figs. 2, 3) supports the paper, and a coverplate (72, Fig. 1) holds it in engagement with the pins 39. The sprocket-wheels comprise a driving wheel (20) splined to a drive shaft (18) and an idler wheel (22) supported on a shaft (19) by an eccentric bushing (17) for tensioning the belt 32. The tractor is laterally adjustable along the shafts (18, 19).
