Abstract
1,215,401. Propellants. POUDRERIES REUNIES DE BELGIQUE S.A. 4 Jan., 1968 [20 Jan., 1967], No. 685/68. Addition to 1,178,562. Heading C1D [Also in Division F3] A propellant comprises constituents selected from nitrocellulose (12-6% N and 13-15% N), nitroglycerine, nitroguanidine, potassium nitrate, barium nitrate, dibutylphthalate, diphenylamine, ethyl centralite, cryolite, graphite, graphite (glaze) and ethylene dimethacrylate and includes an erosion reducing additive wholly constituted by or including Al 2 O 3 , the alumina being in the latter case in admixture "with one or more of MgO, 5i0 2 and talc having the formula 3MgO.4SiO 2 .H 2 O, the additive being present in an amount of 1-5% by weight of the propellant and having a particle size of 1-60 microns. The additive may be dispersed in a hydrocarbon wax or plastics foam. The composition may also include synthetic polyester fibres.
