Abstract

1,213,672. Coin freed vending machine. S. BOSCO. 9 Feb., 1968 [29 Nov., 1967], 6518/68. Heading G4V. A coin-freed postcard vending machine is operated manually by a spring-loaded lever 6 driving levers 15 and 16 through an intermediate coin to rotate shaft 11 carrying a ratchet 20 co-acting with teeth 21 on a friction drum 12 separating postcards from a stack in compartment 24. The postcards are urged by a spring 26 towards a window 25 and separated one at a time by the drum through a slit 27. Lever 14, attached to shaft 11 advances bank 22 allowing change to fall from hoppers 23 to a return window. If the card store is empty a spring 30, which normally holds the cards in place, activates a lever 31 to enlarge a slot 29 allowing the coin to fall into the return window. A plurality of coin freed machines are mounted one above the other on members 9 attached to the door of an outer casing. Fraud prevention. The slit 7 is dimensioned to reject coins larger than required and the spacing of levers 15 and 16 is such that a smaller coin will not bring them into contact.
