1,213,558. 1,1 - Dihydroperfluoroalkanols. FARBENFABRIKEN BAYER A.G. 15 July, 1968 [22 July, 1967], No. 33609/68. Heading C2C. 1,1-Dihydroperfluoroalkanols of the formula R f -CH 2 -OH are obtained by reducing perfluoroalkanoic acids or esters thereof of the formula R f COOR with alkali metal borohydrides at 20 to 100‹ C., R f being a C 1-12 perfluoroaliphatic radical and R being a hydrogen atom or a C 1-4 alkyl radical and the molar ratio of alkali-metal borohydride to carboxylic compound being at least 0À75:1.
