Abstract
1,212,852. Spectrometer reading arrangement. NATIONAL RESEARCH DEVELOPMENT CORP. June 5, 1968 [June 8, 1967], No.26601/67. Heading G1A. The intensities of the spectral lines in a number of areas of the display of a spectrometer 1, Fig. 1, are inserted in a corresponding number of registers 8 by an arrangement in which the intensity signals from the display are presented to a common detector 3 through an apertured arrangement 13 which presents samples of the radiation in accordance with a coded sequence of aperture patterns, the detector output being converted to digital form in 6 and added to or subtracted from each of the registers sequentially in accordance with add or subtract signals developed by the presence or absence of an aperture in an apertured arrangement identical with that in the detector path. A row of photo-cells 9 in which the add subtract signals are developed by a lamp 10 are sequentially energized with their corresponding registor by signals from 12 during each row reading period. The apertures may be in a rotating disc or may be fixed, and controlled by a programme. The sequence of aperture patterns, arrangements of which are exemplified, is such that the nett effect in each register corresponds with the signal intensity of the emancition from its respective area.
