Abstract
1,212,642. Stacking and delivering sheets; endless conveyer belts. SOC. D'ETUDE ET DE VENTE DE MATERIELS POUR LA FABRICATION ET LE FACONNAGE DU CARTON ONDULE-MARTIN. 4 Feb., 1969 [29 Feb., 1968], No. 5969/69. Headings B8A and B8R. Apparatus in which sheet products are stacked from below, aligned by reciprocating joggers, and removed in counted batches by a pusher, is characterized by a set of horizontal strips connected to an articulated lever assembly and introduced at the bottom of the stack to separate a part of the stack to be removed from further sheets being stacked. General arrangement, Fig. 1.-Cardboard sheets are fed between sets of endless belts 3, 4 against a plate 16 on a further conveyer 8. A stack builds up from the bottom on conveyer 8 until the required number for removal in a batch has been detected by ultrasonic cell 29. Separating strips 24 are positioned immediately above conveyer 8 and further sheets are stacked beneath the strips; the batch above the strips is removed by pusher fingers 35 on to a conveyer 11. During stacking, joggers 45 are reciprocated by eccentrically mounted lever 41 to square the stack with respect to plate 16; plate 16 is adjustable on frame 15 to accommodate different lengths of sheets. Conveyer details.-Belts 3, 4 are transversely spaced to permit the separating strips 24 to move in the gaps; belts 9, 12 of conveyers 8, 11 are aligned with belts 2, 3, and the pusher fingers 35 are mounted directly above the corresponding separating strips 24, the members 45 being mounted between the fingers 35. The pulley 5 of conveyer belts 3 is pivotable on lever 6 to adjust the nip between the belts at that end, and shafts 13, 14 of conveyer 11 are arranged to form an inclined plane. Stack separating device.-The separating strips 24 are introduced below the stack under the action of pneumatic or hydraulic jack 25 controlled by the ultrasonic cell 29 (or optionally, a photo-cell); the strips are mounted on an articulated lever assembly 19, 22, 23, resting on resilient stops 28. Pusher device.-The pusher fingers 35 are vertically adjustable on a transverse bar 32 mounted on a rigid frame 30 travelling between rollers 33, 34 under the action of a further jack 36, which is actuated when the strips 24, being raised by sheets being stacked from below, contact the lower ends of the fingers 35. The resulting horizontal motion of frame 30 and fingers 35 removes the sheets above strips 24 in a batch on to conveyer 11.
