Abstract

1,211,696. Valved bag. CANADIAN INDUSTRIES Ltd. 13 May, 1968 [1 June, 1967], No. 25383/67. Heading B8K. A valve is formed in a gusseted end of a plastics bag by two overlapping portions 5, 6 of the gusseted end. The bag comprises front and back panels 1, 2 joined along their side edges to form a flattened tube and along the remaining opposed edges by gusseted end panels. The portions 5, 6 each have a length less than that of the gusseted end panel and overlap at their inner free extremities. The valve portion 6 may be provided with an extension 7 of film of thinner gauge than the wall and the valve portion 5 may be provided with a similar thinner gauge film extension 8 which is folded back to lie in contact with the internal valve wall. The valve bag may be fabricated of heatsealable plastics material, e.g. polyethylene and the seals 9 may be either of the lap type or of the flange type.
