A device for automatically developing an exposed photo-sensitive material comprises a thermostatically controlled water bath 4 filled to constant level with running water, a hanging processing trough 6 immersed in said tank and containing bearings 21 for mounting a revolving axle 23 carrying a bobbin 24 that supports the material to be developed, and an electric motor reduction unit 37 driving said axle via wheels 35 and 32 and shafts 33 and 34 and also driving via wheels 42 a processing liquid dispensing card 49 which card is guided and held by slide bars 44 of semicircular section immersed in tank 4 with a rectilinear section 47 above the processing trough, wherein said card or strip carries on one side containers 51 of processing liquid which are opened by depressing nozzles 52 which ride up ramp 53 and perforating the container by member 3 or pointed wheel not shown allowing the processing liquid to discharge down duct 54 into trough 6, and the maximum level in trough 6 is controlled by siphon 28, 29, 30 at a lower level than that in tank 4. The card 49 may carry bars 56 which actuate lever 57 opening hole 60 in trough 6 allowing water from tank 4 to flush out processing chemical or a bar which opens a drain at the bottom of trough 6. The tank 6 may contain an exposure lamp 61. The driving means may comprise a stopping lever which delays movement of the card 49 to cause over development and the water supply of the heating system may be controlled by a constant level tank the water inlet of which is connected to a safety device that switches off the heating in case of lack of water in the inlet.
