[Also in Division F2] In a twin unit multicolour offset rotary printing machine in which sheets fed between the impression and blanket cylinders 3, 4 of the first unit are transferred to the corresponding cylinders 6, 7 of the second unit by a transfer cylinder 5, and in which part of the machine drive comprises three interengaged toothed wheels-one being secured to each of the cylinders 3, 5, 6-correct registration of the impression received on each sheet from both units is effected by altering, if necessary, the pitch diameter of the toothed wheel secured to the transfer cylinder. Two methods of pitch diameter variation are described in the Specification. In the first the rim of the toothed wheel 11 is locally deformed by the action of a wedge 16 which, moving axially of the wheel causes a contacting member 21 to move radially. In the second, local deformation is effected by a screw-jack housed within the wheel and movable radially.
