Abstract

1,209,856. Thin layer chromatography. CESKOSLOVENSKA AKADEMIE VED. 28 Feb.. 1969 [4 March, 1968], No. 10704/69. Heading B1X. A developing chamber for thin layer chromatography comprises plates 1, 2 held together 'by mortise and tenon joints 6, the chamber being closed by plate 3 which carries a fillet 9 which cooperates with protrusions 5 in the lower part of plate 1 in holding thin layer sheet 4 in position. Joints 6 may, if preferred, comprise single or double dovetails, and the chamber, (which allows only 1-3 mm. clearance between thin layer sheet 4 and plate 1) may be constructed of plastics or metal, and is suitable for use with adsorbentcoated aluminium on paperboard sheets. If desired, plate 3 may be integral with plate 2. The chamber, which is held together by clamps or rubber bands, is held vertically in a trough when in use.
