Abstract
1,209,651. Spraying. H. NIELSEN & SON MASKINFABRIK A/S. 27 Dec., 1967, No. 58724/67. Heading B2L. A flat plate 6 carried in the horizontal position is sprayed on both sides by spray guns 7 and 8 (not shown) which guns are controlled by sensing members which determine the length, width and rate of movement of the plate. A fixed detector 24 senses the leading edge of the plate and sets in operation a magnetic vane counter S 1 which being driven by the roller conveyor allows the leading edge to reach the gun 7 before spraying commences. The counter is then reset and allows for the trailing edge to reach the gun 7 before shutting off the paint supply. Detectors 25, 26 are moved outwardly to find the edge of the plate and thus control, through potentiometers, the transverse stroke of the guns 7.. A similar counter to S 1 measures the speed of the sheet and accordingly varies the speed of the transverse stroke of the guns. If plates with non-parallel sides are sprayed the narrowest end must pass through the machine first since the detectors 25, 26 only operate in the outward direction to locate the edges.
