Abstract

1,209,405. Laundry-drying apparatus. INITIAL SERVICES Ltd. 21 May, 1969 [4 Dec., 1968], No. 57557/68. Heading F4G. Garments are dried in a cabinet comprising tunnels 11, 25, 26 set about three sides of a rectangle. Hot air is supplied via an airconditioning unit 27, and fan 40, at a predetermined and distinct speed for each section, to the tunnel sections through a false floor and via baffle systems so that garments are caused to billow at the centre by baffles 28, 31, 34 and at the sides by baffles 29, 30, 32, 33. The air is controlled for temperature by means of a thermometer whose reading determines the steam input to a heater, and for relative humidity by means of a wet bulb thermometer, working in a mixture of external air, and air from the tunnels, such that its temperature is below the boiling point of water, whose output governs a steam supply to the air in the cabinet. The hot air recirculates unless an upper limit of humidity is reached, when it is released from the system. The garments are passed through the cabinet on a continuous conveyer, and doors at the ends of the cabinet are opened and closed automatically for garments to pass.
