Abstract

1,209,355. Sealing cable joints. CENTRAL ELECTRICITY GENERATING BOARD. 20 March, 1969 [21 Feb., 1968], No. 8434/68. Heading H2E. A cable joint seal in an oil-filled cable comprises a box 20, preferably bitumen-filled and of glass fibre, and pipes 24, 25, 26, 27 circulating coolant, for example water, placed close to a shell 23 which surrounds the joint of the cable core 21. Cable core 21 is enclosed in dielectric 22. A single flexible pipe (34, Fig. 3, not shown) helically wound around shell 23 may replace pipes 24-27.
