1,209,111. Reciprocating pumps and compressors. MASCHINENFABRIK BURCKHARDT A.G. Jan.15, 1968 [Jan.23, 1967], No.2148/68. Headings F1A and FIN The output of a pump or compressor having a piston (now shown) reciprocated by a double-acting piston 2 driven by oil in end chambers 4, 5 connected to opposite sides of a mechanically driven piston 3, is adjusted by connecting together the chamber 4, 5 for a predetermined period of each stroke. The chambers are connected together through slide valves 27, 28 alternately opened by levers 35, 53 . movable by a driven piston rod 31. Each slide valve 27, 28 has an associated non-return valve 29, 30 which prevents flow through an open slide valve until the pressures in the chambers equalize soon after commencement of a stroke. The period during which the valves are open is adjusted by screwed sleeves 34.
