Abstract

1,207,726. Ovens. THOMAS COLLINS & CO. Ltd. 17 March, 1969. [19 March, 1968] No. 13360/68. Headings F4W. A forced air circulation oven having a heatinsulating exterior casing 10 closed by a hinged door (not shown) is provided with a heating chamber 11 having perforated side and rear walls 11a 11b and 11c and an imperforate bottom wall 11e. The heating chamber is spaced inwardly from the casing to define vertical side and rear ducts 12a, 12b and 12c. Electrical resistance heating elements 15 are located in a cavity 12 into which the side ducts open below the chamber 11. A fan 20 driven by an electric motor 19 circulates air in a closed path over the heating elements 15, up through the aide ducts 11a 11b into the heating chamber 11, through the perforations in the rear wall and downwardly through the rear duct 12c to the fan inlet 18. Gas or oil-fired means may alternatively be used to heat the air. A pressure release valve may be included in the air flow system to allow steam released from foodstuffs in the oven to be exhausted. In a modified construction (not shown), two heating chambers 11 may be located side by side in spaced relationship within a common casing.
