Abstract
1,206,712. Separating Ac, Ra and Th. COMMISSARIAT A L'ENERGIE ATOMIQUE. 15 Jan., 1968 [30 Jan., 1967], No. 2195/68. Heading C1A. [Also in Division G6] A mixture containing two or more of the elements radium, actinium, and thorium is separated by halogenation and fractional sublimation of the halides. Chlorination may be effected by NH 4 Cl, CCl 4 , SCl 2 , PCl 5 , Cl 2 , CCl 4 -HCl mixture, or Cl 2 -S 2 Cl 2 mixture. Bromination may be carried out with Br 2 , aluminium bromide, or HBr. The process is used for the separation of actinium 227 from neutron-irradiated radium.
