Abstract
1,206,338. Incinerators. VON ROLL A.G. 8 July, 1968 [6 July, 1967], No. 32558/68. Addition to 1,104,605. Heading F4B. Town refuse is dried, preheated and partially burnt in a shaft 2 through which horizontal streams of preheated air controlled in temperature and volume are passed. The solid residue from the shaft 2 is fed by a pusher 22 operating in a tube 20 to fall down the side walls of a fusion chamber 21 when combustion is completed and slag melted by air from nozzles 27 projecting through the falling charge to strike the slag bath tangentially to a circle of less diameter than the bath. Waste oil or liquid fuel may be supplied through a conduit 37 coaxial with one of the nozzles 27 which forms an auxiliary burner. The gaseous products from the partial combustion in the column 2 pass through slots in the wall to burn in a chamber 18 with secondary air supplied at 19, solid particles falling through a grid 23 forming part of the top wall of solid fuel supply tube 20. Waste gases from the fusion chamber 21 are mixed with cooled flue gases in a chamber 28 before mingling with the waste gases from the secondary combustion chamber and passing to a waste heat boiler. The walls of the chamber 2 are formed of water tubes, and the regulatable air inlet slots may be formed between fins on the wall tubes.
