Abstract

1,205,862. Decks. CARGOSPEED EQUIPMENT Ltd., and J. G. BROWN. 2 Sept., 1969 [13 June, 1968], No. 28094/68. Heading B7S. A cargo or ferry vessel has a series of aligned deck sections 18 forming an intermediate deck between permanent decks 10 and 11, the sections being moved back against the side of the ship when not in use. The deck sections carry a lane of vehicles on either side of support hangers 15a which run on horizontal rails 14 and are pivoted at 16 to brackets 17 on sections 18. An hydraulic ram 20 for moving section 18 between its operative and stowed positions is pivoted at 19 on hanger 15a and connected to arm 21 of bracket 17. The outboard end 22 of section 18 is guided by vertical rails 15. A locking pin is used to lock end 22 of section 18 to frame 13. In Fig. 8 (not shown), section 18 is in two parts hinged at the hanger connection, and arranged such that the outboard part can be stowed and the inboard part used for a single lane of vehicles.
