Abstract
1,205,843. Feeding cigarettes. HAUNI-WERKE KORBER & CO. K.G. 13 March, 1968 [21 June, 1967], No. 12184/68. Heading B8S. Trays of cigarettes 9 on platform 6 are fed to magazine 4 by frame 14 and the empty trays 9 are dropped down on to platform 7 for discharge. Each tray is placed in frame 14 being secured therein by flaps 26 and 27, the frame being reciprocable along shaft 17 and pivotable thereon so that the frame receives the tray in its right-hand position and moves leftwards into the position shown in Fig. 1 at which the frame together with tray pivots upwardly into a position vertically over the hopper 4 as shown in Fig. 3. The space between the now-vertical frame 14 and the magazine 4 is taken up by flexible walls 41, 42, 43 which are rolled upon and extend from shafts 41a, 42a, 43a. The upper part of the flexible walls is carried by frame 46 which itself is carried by rods 47, 48 moving in fixed guides 51, 52. The position of frame 46 is governed by a level device formed by source 63 and sensor 64 and carried by the frame. When the level of the cigarettes falls blow that of the source 63 the sensor 64 operates to energize motor 57 which drives frame 46 via pinion 58 and rack 59 fixed to bar 49 forming part of the frame 46. Accordingly frame 46 together with flexible walls 41, 42, 43 move upwards and as the cigarettes fall downwards (cover 36 having been removed from tray 9) the frame 46 engages and pushes upwards the tray 9 which empties its cigarettes. Frame plus tray moves upwards until the tray is completely empty. The level of cigarettes continues to fall and when it falls to the level where sensor 63 now in its upper position operates, two things happen. Firstly frame 14 together with tray 9 pivots downwardly and rightwardly, into the position shown in Fig. 1, the tray being pressed downwards in this movement by fixed guide 66. Additionally the motor 57 is reversed and the frame 46 descends to its lowermost position. Cigarettes then fall again below the level of source 63 and operate motor 57 to recommence the cycle. The empty tray is deposited by frame 14 into drop box 13.
