Abstract
1,205,683. Vehicle headlamp. ROBERT BOSCH G.m.b.H. 27 Sept., 1968 [30 Sept., 1967], No. 45910/68. Heading F4R. [Also in Division H1] In a vehicle headlamp having a reflector, filaments for the main and the dipped beam and a screen associated with the dip filament, the screen has cross-sections in planes perpendicular to the optical axis of the reflector with at least approximately parabolic shaped edges and in planes perpendicular to the first planes at least approximately elliptical shaped edges. A main beam filament 3 is provided in the lamp at the focus 4 of the reflector 1. Alternatively the filament may lie along the optical axis or be U- shaped about the focus. A screen 6 is provided adjacent the dip filament 5 to reflect light rays from the filament back towards the reflector 1. The dip filament 5 lies along the optical axis of reflector 1 and has the last turn nearest the apex of reflector 1 lying at a focus of the ellipse. The filament 5 also lies along the focal line of the paraboloid screen (Fig. 4, not shown). In a modification the parabola-like section may be circular in the vicinity of the parabola apex. The screen may be placed so that the focal line of the paraboloid is staggered upwards or downwards with respect to the dip filament.
