Abstract

1,204,381. Projecting weft threads. NATIONAL RESEARCH DEVELOPMENT CORP. 24 July, 1968 [18 Aug., 1967], No. 38248/67. Heading D1E. Weft 20 is projected into the shed by two moving bands 4, 9. The band 4 runs around fixed rollers 2, 3, either or both of which are rotated and the band 9 runs around rollers 7, 8 mounted on a pivoted sub-frame 5 which is moved by a cam 13 so that the weft is trapped between the bands for projection. Either or both of the rollers 7, 8 are driven and the drive to the rollers may be such as to retard the weft as it is projected. The bands may be incorporated in the apparatus of specification 941,282 and may supply the weft to the tapered rollers of that apparatus which includes weft supply, retraction and cutting means.
