Abstract

1,203,964. Delivering or feeding sheets INTERNATIONAL COMPUTERS Ltd. 12 June, 1968 [15 June, 1967], No. 27760/67 Heading B8R. Sheets are fed to a suction drum 10, Figs. 1 and 2, having perforations 44 and a stationary partition 29, 30 which engages the inner peri phery so as to divide the drum into a suction compartment 26 communicating through ports 28 with the inside of a tube 22 connected to a source of suction, and a non-suction compart ment 27. The sheets are thus held to the drum while passing over the compartment 26 and then released, by one of two sets of stripper member 42, 49 engaging circumferential grooves 40 ir the drum, into bins 45 or 47. In one form, the sheets are fed to the drum by rollers 51 and laterally registered by skew rollers 54. The sheets are fed round the drum beneath an arcuate guide-plate 46. The partition engages the drum periphery by means of spring-biased plastic brush blocks 33 made of nylon impregnated with molybdenum disulphide. In another form, the drum periphery sections between the grooves 40 are each formed with a plurality of axial grooves each containing one suction per foration. Feeding sheets.-Alternatively, the drum may be used to separate sheets from the bottom of a stack.
