Abstract

1,203,335. Discharge lamp control circuits. SYLVANIA ELECTRIC PRODUCTS Inc. 14 June, 1968 [29'June, 1967], No. 28543/68. Heading H2H. Control circuit for a discharge lamp includes a pulse generator which gates a transistor so that pulses are supplied through a step-up transformer to the lamp. In the circuit shown in Fig. 1, the pulse generator sends a pulse each half-cycle to a transistor Q1 so that a voltage pulse is sent through the transistor and an associated rectifier bridge D to an autotransformer T1, T2 which amplifies the pulse so that it is sufficient to cause ionization in the lamp L. In a modification, Fig. 3 (not shown), filaments in the lamp are supplied with heating current from a second transformer.
