Abstract
1,202,888. Cupronickel alloy. AMERICAN METAL CLIMAX. Inc. Nov.29, 1967 [Dec.12, 1966] No.54358/67 Heading C7A. A cupronickel alloy comprises Ni 3-7% Ti 1-3À5% B up to 0À15% Zn up to 3% Be up to 1% Mn up to 3% Fe up to 1À5% the balance, apart from impurities, being copper. Impurities mentioned are not more than 0À3% Si, below 0À1% Cr, below 0À001% Bi, below 0À1% Sn below 0À01% Pb, below 0À01% P, below 0À08% C and below 0À02% S although the effects of this last element may be minimized by addition of Mn or Mg. The alloy, however, is preferably devoid of Cr, C, Bi, Pb, S, Sn and P. The alloys may be cold worked (preferably at least 20%) heated at 400-700‹C. and water quenched this treatment being carried out after hot working and solution annealing at 950‹C. in Ar.
