Abstract
1,202,843. Finishing. CHIAP HUA CLOCKS & WATCHES Ltd. 5 Feb., 1969, No. 6208/69. Heading B3D. A process for producing a metallic paint finish or zinc-alloy diecastings, e.g. toy car bodies, comprises (i) tumbling the diecastings in a barrel with an abrasive medium in an aqueous solution of a cyanide; (ii) removing the diecastings from the barrel; and (iii) after drying, coating the diecastings with a coloured clear lacquer. The barrel is preferably hexagonal and is rotated at 36 r.p.m. for 1-1¢ hrs. The abrasive medium is ceramic chips, natural stones or zinc-alloy diecastings sprues. The aqueous solution of a cyanide preferably comprises 1-2 ozs. of sodium cyanide per Imperial gallon of water.
