Abstract

1,202,779. Oxo process. BRITISH PETROLEUM CO. Ltd. 21 Feb., 1969 [11 March, 1868], No. 11671/68. Heading C2C. Olefines are hydroformylated with CO and H 2 at elevated temperature in the presence of a complex of iridium containing one carbonyl ligand, one hydride ligand and three other neutral ligands. Specified neutral ligands include organic phosphines, arsines, stibines, amines and sulphoxides. An Example prepares a mixture of normal and branched aldehydes (70:28 ratio) from hexene-1 using IrH(CO). (Ph 3 P) 3 as catalyst.
