Abstract
1,202,688. Electrolytic recovery of silver from fixing baths. COMPTOIR LYON-ALEMAND LOUYOT & CIE. March 26, 1969 [Feb.4, 1969], No.15883/69. Heading G2A. [Also in Division C7] Fixing baths of automatic developing machines for use in X-ray equipment and the printing industry are automatically recycled and regenerated by directing used fixing solution, discharged by overflow outlet 17 from the fixing vessel 15 of the developing machine 14, via pipe 16 into a regeneration vessel 1 comprising an electrolysis compartment 4 equipped with alternate vertical cathodes and anodes, in which silver is recovered on the cathodes from the used fixing solution, and a storage compartment 8, into which regenerated fixing solution flows from the electrolysis compartment via dipper tube 6 and overflow pipe 7 and through a filter 10, and recycling this solution back to the fixing vessel, via pipes 21 and 23 and three-way valve 25 (connected to a tank 27 containing fresh fixing solution), using a pump 22 which is controlled automatically by the introduction of negatives to be treated into the machine 14.
