Abstract

1,201,895. Bearings; Hookes joints. GELENKWELLENRAU G.m.b.H. 22 May, 1969 [29 May, 1968], No. 26133/69. Headings F2A and F2U. A taper roller bearing is provided with an outer race of sheet metal which has at its smaller diameter end an integral plate 20 which closes the end of the bearing, and at its larger diameter end a flange 12 contacting the ends of the rollers 7. As described, the bearing is employed in a Hookes joint connecting two shafts 1 and 2. The sheet metal race is supported in a bore 17 in the arm of a fork 4 by a synthetic plastics material ring 16 which is held in the bore by a circlip 18. A sealing ring 8 is provided at the large diameter end of the bearing.
