Abstract

1,201,755. Measuring axle load electrically. FORD MOTOR CO. Ltd. Feb.26, 1969, No.10339/69. Heading G1N. The axle 13 Fig.4 of a motor vehicle is supported from the suspension spring 10 in a resilient block 28 between top and bottom capacitors 29, 30, which are varied differentially by the axle load. The capacitors form adjacent arms of a bridge network whose output is thus proportional to the axle loading. The capacitors may be replaced by an alternative type of load cell, e.g. a carbon pile rheostat, at the top of its axle.
