Abstract

1,201,294. Spinning yarns. PALITEX PROJECT CO. G.m.b.H. 21 March, 1969 [25 Jan., 1969], No. 14904/69. Heading D1F. A yarn singeing device includes suction ducts for removal of gases and fluff, electrical visual indication of the operation of heating elements, and an electrically-heated head 9 composed of longitudinally slotted, concentric, hollow cylinders at least two inner of which are of heat resistant material and accommodate a heating element (25) therebetween. A slotted disc (43) of heat resistant material, e.g. mica, is fitted to each ofthe ends of the cylinders, its inner edge locating the innermost cylinder (35) which forms a passage for running yarn; discs and cylinders are secured between slotted rings (38, 39) which have annular flanges, surrounding the outer surface of the outermost cylinder, and radial, abutting projections forming brackets 11 by which the head is secured to arms 12 on a supporting plate 10. Guide eyes 15 and 18 (with threading-up slots leading thereto) and (protective) plates 14 and 17 align with the yarn passage in the head. A supporting tube 5, located in slot 7 or 8 to hold the head in operative or withdrawn positions, also houses electric cables which connect to leads of heating element(s) through pins (24) and pin-sockets (22) connectors. The latter, when coupled, provide support for plate 10 &c. on tube 5. A tube 4 from suction channel 2 terminates in branches 19 (47) protruding in plate 10 above and below the head. Signal lamp (51) (which may be sited within a transparent housing of socket 20) connected in parallel with each of series connected heads is fully illuminated when a corresponding element (25) fails.
